Snow Sculpting - Grand View College is organizing hosting the Iowa College & University Snow Sculpting Contest to raise money for each participant’s charity of choice.  Entries for twenty colleges/universities will be accepted to participate in a contest to build the best replica of their school mascot. The 24-hour event held at Sleepy Hollow Sports Park will end with judging of the best snow sculpture mascots followed by a heated tent party dance with free food and entertainment.

The event begins Friday, February 1, 2008, at 6 pm.  Snow Sculpture mascots will be judged at 6 p.m. the following day, Saturday, February 2, 2008.  First Prize will be $200 and a Traveling Trophy.  Contestants can choose to begin and sculpt their mascot at any time during the 24-hour period.

Entry fees are $200 per team.  Each team is then encouraged to do a fundraising marathon (forms will be provided after registration) for the charity of their choice.  All funds raised by the team will go to the charity of your choice. Sculptures will be built from 10 ft. x 10 ft. blocks of snow.  Sleepy Hollow will provide some educational information on snow sculpting to the participants before the event begins.  The Snow Sculpture Marathon will end Saturday evening with a heated tent party featuring free food, live music, dancing, and a cash bar.   Colleges and universities will be responsible for bringing their own equipment to sculpt the snow.
